....The most recent mapping and image rectification will all be done with the GPCOG imagery which uses both Airborne-GPS (AGPS) and Inertial Measuring Unit (IMU) technologies. These two "state of the art" systems employed by cutting edge aerial photography companies along with gyro-stabilized camera mounts and forward motion compensation produce stunningly accurate results. Call us today for a sample of what can be done with the latest aerial and satellite imagery.
Bradstreet Consultants, Inc. (BCI) was selected by the City of Portland, Maine to provide general photogrammetric mapping services to the Department of Public Works. To begin the multi-year contract, BCI will provide mapping at engineering design scale (1:480) of 16 priority areas in Portland. The purpose of this mapping will be for sewer and road reconstruction projects this spring.
In addition to planimetric detail, topographic mapping in the form of digital terrain modeling (DTM) will be delivered. The challenges facing the City of Portland are:
Time - the mapping needs to be completed prior to the spring construction season. Delivery times are measured in weeks not months on this project.
Rigor - the data must be survey grade accuracy obtained from inserting high quality aerial photos into precision instruments called stereoplotters.
Data flexibility - the data compiled must be in a form that can be easily manipulated by the Department of Public Works' AutoCAD and Softdesk software.
"Delivery time appears to be the key element in today's electronic world. Being a small, but focused company allows us to be very responsive to our customers needs", commented Mark Bradstreet, President of BCI. Bradstreet expects to complete the detailed 40'/" 1' contour priority mapping areas of Portland in time for the spring digging/construction season.
