Maine Department of Transportation has again selected Bradstreet Consultants, Inc. to provide high quality mapping. The latest mapping project will be conducted in the City of Eastport airport area and the cargo port areas of this island city. Eastport, Maine - the most easterly city in the USA.
The main purpose of the project is to determine the exact heights of all the possible obstructions along the approaches to the airport. Bradstreet Consultants will provide planimetric and topographic map data at a scale of 1:500 with 0.25-meter contours as well as the elevations of all vertical obstructions. The digital map data will form the basis for ME-DOT's MOSS GDS digital terrain modeling system as well as their MicroStation transportation design software. This particular project will leverage airborne (kinematic) GPS controlled aerial photography. Using new technologies such as Airborne GPS will lower the amount of surveyed ground control needed, thereby cutting overall costs and delivery times to design and construction firms.
