Portland, ME - The Greater Portland Council of Governments' municipalities
continue to select Bradstreet Consultants, Inc. (BCI) to provide topographic
mapping services from the comprehensive April 2001 aerial photography.
"Our introductory pricing during the first year of this revolutionary
aerial data capture with a 12" focal length Zeiss TOP 30 has stimulated follow-on services" commented Mark R. Bradstreet, President of BCI. This imagery is stunning all by itself, but it also
is inherently better technically than any other photogrammetric quality
aerial photography to
date. The imagery comes scanned in color at 14 microns per pixel, with
the exact position and attitude of the center of the lens given as control,
accurate to within a few inches.
This speeds up the photogrammetric process and cuts the cost of map data
production dramatically.
BCI created the opportunity demonstrate
its
capabilities with this new photography by offering incentives to the early
adopters of this technology. To the date of this press release,
Westbrook, Portland, Falmouth and Freeport have all leveraged this offer to
their taxpayers benefit, saving thousands of dollars by contracting early.
Generally planimetric maps containing road centerlines, hydrography,
bridges, culverts, large structures, 5' contours and precision orthophotos
at 1.0 foot pixels are delivered. A real bonus is the DTM (Digital
Terrain Model), which is also delivered digitally so that future orthophotos can be
generated on the next GPCOG flyover...usually in about 3-5 years.
